Final review on myself:

Ashley, you are strong. You’ve experienced great joys and moderate sorrows. You’ve trusted God with your whole heart, although you put Him on the backburner sometimes. Try to eliminate that behavior next year. You still have problems with time management, self-discipline, and managing the Diabetes temporarily living in your body, lets work on that too. You’ve maintained the joy and energy that you’re known for, and you’ve learn so much about yourself this year. Your biggest lesson was the value of doing a few things well, and that will help propel you into a very successful year in 2015. Keep your family close and never forget them. Also remember that you have a new family that deserves your attention too. God will work out all the kinks. You have a husband now, yay! Life is going to be so much brighter with Kelsey by your side. You two will do wonders together! 2015, here we come!

Now, Goals for 2015:

1. Graduate from Winthrop University (Hopefully, with a job!)

2. Nail down your resume-there’s a lot to be said about you, figure out the best way to say them

3. Launch the LASER Project, even if it’s small scale

4. Tutor consistently

5. Be the wife that makes other husbands jealous 

6. Cook!

7. Emerging Scholars (unless God has something cooler planned)

8. Get a nice apartment until/unless God upgrades us to a home 

9. Come up with creative things for Kels and I do to for fun!

10. New cars for me and Kels?

11. Work money like a ninja

12. Start paying off debt

13. Increase my credit score

14. Find/create a place to keep all of my online inspiration stuff 

15. Have an unforgettable wedding (for all the right reasons)

16. Make crazy travel plans and do them

17. Find a way back to Miami/cruise

18. Start teaching and be the best I can be!

19. Volunteer with Fuse!

So I guess that’s it for now! Let’s go 2015!

Man, what a year! 2014 was a year I definitely won't forget. The year started off with a bang in January and only got better from there...well, not completely. There were a few bumps in the road, but overall, this year was amazing. This is my countdown of the top 5 things that happened to me in 2014:

Number 5: My 21st birthday. For most people, turning 21 is a rite of passage.

They have their first legal alcoholic drink or finally start taking responsibility for their own bills and such. For me, turning 21 was about leaving boyhood and taking my first steps into manhood. This was the year I would be taking full responsibility for my well-being, as well as taking steps toward marriage.

Number 4: I became an owner at Newspring Church. I accepted Christ four years ago at Fuse and my life hasn't been the same since. Up until October 26, I was a member of King David Baptist Church, but ever since accepting Christ, I felt that Newspring was the church I belonged at. That's no slight against my old church; it's just that, I believe I belong at Newspring Church and I solidified that decision on December 2.

Number 3: Spent the summer in Miami. I got the opportunity to live in Miami for six weeks through the Call Me MISTER Summer Internship and, man, what an opportunity it was! For almost two months, I lived in what I believe is America's most diverse city. I met people from all over the world and even saw my relationship with Christ grow exponentially. I also developed a healthy addiction to Starbucks!!

Number 2: I proposed to Ashley! Ashley flew down to Miami to spend the 4th of July with me, but what she didn't know was that I was planning on popping the big question to her. My boss for the summer, Paulette Pfeiffer (AKA Tinkerbell), and her husband Neil, took Ashley, me, and about 7-8 other people out on their sailboat. We sailed through the Miami harbor and anchored at an outdoor stadium overlooking the water, where, right at sunset, I got down on one knee and asked Ashley to marry me! It was a perfect moment (in my opinion)!!

Number 1: I married Ashley!! The only thing better than an engagement is a marriage. Our original intent was to wait and get married after I graduated in 2016, but we decided that was too long to wait. We planned for May 2015, but we felt like God was telling us to exercise our combined faith and do it before we thought we would be ready. We did it and one of the most awesome things about that is that we were married by one of my best guy friends and the guy who led me to Christ, Matt Steelman! We've been married 16 days so far and it's amazing, but we know that the best is yet to come!!!

2015 Goals:

SPIRITUAL/CHURCH:

-Begin serving with guest services

-Successfully invite at least 5 people to Newspring

-Read & meditate on at least 3 full books of the Bible

-Read and reflect on at least 3 new "spiritual books"

-Consistently have quiet time every day

LEADERSHIP:

-Read 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership

-Get a copy of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

-Keep adding to Leadership Notes for Crosspoint Church

-Keep looking for more leadership teaching

ACADEMIC (Spring Semester)

-President's List

-Read at least 3 teacher-preparation books (The Souls of Black Folk, The Miseducation of the Negro, etc.)

-Read at least 3 non-academic books

-Write at least 3 short stories

PERSONAL:

-Maintain my breathing (I don't have asthma; sometimes, I have trouble breathing)

-Consistently work out AND play basketball

-Build friendships

-Eat more and drink more water consistently

Here's to holding each other accountable!
